SPIKE, Sri Lanka’s monthly meetup for the tech ecosystem, on Tuesday, August 29 from 6.30pm onwards at Barefoot Gallery Café, Bambalapitiya will feature two speakers – Mano Sekaram, founder and CEO of 99X Technology and Amali Fernando who provides a virtual in-house counsel service.

SPIKE is organised by a voluntary team dedicated to building and supporting Sri Lanka’s tech ecosystem. Mr. Sekeram, who also recently founded StartupXFoundry a tech startup Accelerator, will discuss the importance of having both execution and innovation capacity within a start-up, and how to bring experience into the mix. “He will reflect on his own career as an entrepreneur and talk about the work he is doing to support and accelerate a new generation of entrepreneurs. Mano will be passing on invaluable tips to start-up entrepreneurs that will maximise their chances for success,” according to a SPIKE event announcement.

Ms. Fernando, who has worked with a number of key firms including MIT, Amba and Nithya Partners, is expected to give entrepreneurs tips on what they need to prioritise when it comes to legal requirements. “Specifically she’ll discuss founder agreements and staff contracts, and what founders should be aware of when they are considering external investment,” SPIKE said.
