28 Foreign Scholarships on offer
View(s):Local and foreign scholarships, totaling 80, will be available for undergraduate and postgraduate studies shortly, officials said.
Japan, Vietnam and the Commonwealth have offered 28 scholarships, while 52 local scholarships will be offered to foreign students, by the Presidential Secretariat and the UNESCO.
The Japanese Scholarships, totaling 19 and selected by the Japanese embassy, are for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Information Technology (IT), Engineering, Management, Youth Technology, Japanese Language (Compulsory), Bio Technology and Arts subjects
Vietnam is offering 5 scholarships for which the selection process is ongoing. Sri Lanka is also offerring reciprocal scholarships to Vietnamese students under this programme.
Two Commonwealth scholarships will be offered in Engineering and IT. UNESCO offers 2 scholarships for foreign students continuing their education in Sri Lanka. The Presidential secretariat will provide 52 scholarships to foreign students, excluding Medicine, Dental and Engineering.
Students from 12 countries have already sent in their applications for the local scholarships. Sri Lanka will insist on good English language knowledge as a criterian. - DW
