Cabinet allocates 5-acres for Tamil medium Secondary school

Cabinet approved allocation of 5 acres of land owned by Namunukula Plantation Co., for a Tamil medium secondary school in the Matugama area. Currently, there are about 18 Tamil medium Primary schools in the Matugama area, and students have to attend schools in Horana or Kalutara for their Secondary education, while students who follow Advanced Level in Maths and Science streams in Tamil, have to attend schools in Beruwala or Darganagar zones.

The joint proposal was made by Minister of National Coexistence, Dialogue & Official Languages, Mano Ganeshan, and Minister of Ports & Shipping, Mahinda Samarasinghe.
