RC threatens action against legally closed firms

Letter

As a director of a private company that had closed after following the due legal procedures in 2011, I received a letter dated December 14, 2016 from the Registrar of Companies (RC) informing me that the company has not submitted the annual returns for seven years commencing 2010 and threatening legal action if not submitted within 21 days.

Being a senior citizen and fearing legal action I immediately got a search done at the Registrar of Companies office and got confirmation that according to available records this company has been legally deregistered.

We were also informed that they (RC) have recruited new staff and given the responsibility to trace the companies which have not submitted the annual returns, and in this process they have got numerous complaints regarding letters going out to closed companies. It seems new recruits have been given responsibilities without proper training.
