The ‘Only Good News Paper’, the country’s first ever tri-lingual newspaper that contains only good news, was launched last month to inspire Sri Lankans to look beyond the negativity and go for greatness.

Created by the not-for-profit NGO Foundation of Goodness and dairy brand Anchor, the Only Good News Paper highlights the stories of ordinary people who have achieved greatness not only for themselves, but for those around them.

Founder of the Foundation of Goodness, Kushil Gunasekera, said that with so much focus on the negative things that happen, it is easy to forget the innate goodness that is present in every one of us.

“In my experience working with various communities around the country, we continue to come across people who have achieved amazing things, even in the most dire circumstances. The Only Good News Paper was created to take such inspiring stories to the entire nation in an effort to inspire each and every Sri Lankan to act on their own goodness.”

Highlights from the first edition of the Only Good News Paper include the remarkable story of Sonali, a teenager based in the United States, who raises money to fund cleft palate surgeries for children in Sri Lanka and other developing countries.

Managing Director of Fonterra Brands Sri Lanka– the company behind Anchor Sunil Sethi, said, “Anchor has been an integral part of Sri Lankans’ lives for 40 years and the belief we have is that every one of us has natural potential. That’s why we started this movement of ‘Goodness Feeds Greatness’ in August.”

“This is an exciting and inspiring movement to be involved in, and the Only Good News Paper is the first initiative to sustain this movement. We will continue to uncover more incredible stories of goodness that have sparked Sri Lankans to achieve greatness,” he said.

The Only Good News Paper is available free-of-charge at public locations around Colombo, Kandy and Galle, and online at www.onlygoodnewspaper.lk.
