Left arm spinners Pavith Ratnayake and Dellon Peiris combined to steer S. Thomas’ to a convincing innings and 94 runs over Anuradhapura Central in their Under-19 inter-school cricket encounter concluded at Mt. Lavinia yesterday.

The foundation for the win was laid by Dulith Gunaratne and Romesh Nallaperuma who cracked half tons for S. Thomas’ in the their innings. STC made a score of 261.

Anuradhapura Central in their turn ended day one on 106 for 9 and was bowled out at the same score on day two. Made to follow on with a deficit of 155 runs the Anuradhapura lads fared no better as the spin duo Pavith and Dellon proved too hot to handle and succumbed to a low score of 61 runs in their second innings.

A ton by Supun Waragoda and an allround performance by Asel Sigera helped Ananda record an easy first inning win over Dharmasoka MV Ambalangoda in the match concluded at Ananda Mawatha.

The second day’s play saw Ananda in reply to Dharmasoka MV’s score of 156 resuming from their overnight score of 219 for 7 going to make a score of 260 for 8 declared.

Devapathiraja MMV Rathgama registered a close one run first inning over St. Thomas’ Matara in the match which ended at the Uyanwatta Stadium in Matara. Devapathiraja MMV having made a score of 192 on day one succeeded to restrict St. Thomas’ for 191.

A top knock of 165 by Hinusha Sandeepa and an allround performance by Mithila Poornajith enabled St. John’s Nugegoda to coast to a massive 486 runs win over President’s College Maharagama in their match concluded at Padukka yesterday.

Piliyandala Central too posted a big win against Henry Olcott College Kolonnawa by 327 runs in the match which ended at Kolonnawa yesterday.

Zahira was in deep trouble against St Aloysius Galle when play ended on day one in the match played at Maradana. St .Aloysius batting first made a score of 165 and Zahira in their turn was struggling on 47 for 5.
