The long awaited season is upon us.The gift shopping, food preparations, the holiday planning, the visiting of family are on many of our to-do lists this month. And among those lists are the parties and many events to attend.  So this week’s article is on how to dress for these many events. Hope these suggestions are useful, but all the outfits aside what matters and adds value the most is you!

The maxi dresses

The look : This has three types of maxis ; that is the lace, sequin and bead embellished maxi dresses. In most maxi dresses the focus is always on the top, as a result the extra features and work are added to the upper part of the dress. The sleeves of these dresses also have details added to them for extra flair.

How to wear it :With regard to most maxi dresses, the effort in accessorizing is quite limited, as the dress itself has quite a lot of detail. But wearers can always add a necklace, a clutch and an elegant hair style to round it up.

Where to wear it : The colors blue, red and black are very well suited for the season. The look could be worn for a Christmas party, engagement or even a wedding.

Detailed full sleeved shirt

The look : It’s a basic full sleeved shirt with an elegant touch of ‘gold buttons’. The dark green tone and the ‘gold’ button coordinates well with the season’s theme. The fabric falls effortlessly against the body making it look sleek.

How to wear it :The darker shade of the shirt and the fact that it is without any print gives the opportunity to match a printed or a white bottom. Wearing a necklace is not recommended but it can be paired with a gold featured elegant earrings and bracelet/ watch.

Where to wear it : Since this look channels a more professional outlook, this would be suited for a workplace Christmas party/ corporate event. It would also be well suited to an event such as addressing a crowd in a corporate context.

The printed top

The look :This look is of a basic red top with a lace- net feature & a top with a monochrome print. The lace net feature adds a hint of elegance to the look. And its sleeves are not stitched with the net fabric, making it more practical & comfortable. The monochrome printed top expresses more of an official vibe.

How to wear it :The red top can be worn with a subtle coloured or printed skirt or pants, with a beautiful necklace to highlight the top. The monochrome top on the other hand could use quite the opposite technique and pair it with a bright colored pair of pants or skirt to lift the look.

Where to wear it :Both are very well suited for a corporate event or even a Christmas party. The lace-net top being red in colour blends well with the season’s theme. The monochrome top also can be channeled towards the Christmas theme with the correct accessories. As shown in the picture the bright red pants, striking necklace and  bag works very well all together.

The cocktail dresses

The look :This look is mostly an alternate to the maxi dress. The pastel shades work well with this style to channel a more feminine look. These dresses too have most details on the top. And as shown here the designs are mostly  subtle and delicate.

How to wear it :Due to the length of the dress, it gives the perfect opportunity to showcase one’s shoes. One could try a striking pair of heels to match with the clutch and also wear a beautiful necklace and earrings.

Where to wear it :This look is perfect for a wedding, homecoming or even a Christmas party. Accessories could be balanced according to the function.

The ‘Peplum’ Top

The look :The highlight of this look is the ‘hour glass’ figure, as it is fitted near the waist and flows down with a frill. And unlike many styles, this can be worn with or without sleeves without unsettling its elegance. The red color works well with the Christmas theme. The checkered design maintains a more professional vibe, while the floral blends in the feminine and formal vibe quite well.

How to wear it :The red peplum is quite striking and loud on its own. As a result a skirt or pant with a more basic shade would balance it well. On the other hand both the printed peplums could be paired either with a striking handbag, heels or even a skirt. The neckline of the peplum top also gives an opportunity to wear a prominent necklace.

Where to wear it : All three are very well suited for a Christmas party (work, friends or family), homecoming, engagement party etc. The floral peplum and the checkered printed peplum could be worn for a corporate event.
