It’s the season of giving and celebration. The months of November & December are usually j packed with weddings, end of year dinner parties (work), family dinners and even batch parties. With all the invitations, come the much awaited dress shopping. So this month’s article draws inspiration from celebrity inspired party wear options to add that bit of glamour to your outfits. Hope these fashion inspirations will assist you with your dress shopping for the upcoming season in the next few weeks. Try these tips and have a great holiday celebration.

The mini A-line dress

These are perfect for anyone, as it creates the illusion of the ‘hour glass’ figure for almost any body type.It allows one to showcase your heels, a perfect excuse to wear those color block shoes! Some A-line dresses however can be little short, but you can add a lace border to the hem at the bottom and your good to go. With regard to printed dresses, try to make sure the design flows vertically, as the opposite could make you appear little bigger than usual. You  could also throw a blazer over it, to make it look more official, if wearing to a work event.

Basic shirt & skirt combo

A yet another idea is to pair a basic shirt with an élite skirt that you own. This has class written all over it. But be attentive to details, if not one could look very under-dressed.

The hair, handbag, heels all should be absolutely perfect.

The power suit

There is a trend now to use the ‘power suit’ channeling a more masculine style. However, not all can pull it off but it’s got the power to command the attention of any crowd.

The Peplum

A style well loved by all ladies. It covers all the parts we loathe and creates the perfect illusion for a curvy figure on almost anyone. A bright or embellished peplum top with a skirt or pant would be a perfect glam outfit across all parties.

The ‘Maxi’ dress

This is one of the most commonly opted styles for parties. It channels a retro, glamourous, elegant & a feminine ambience. This goes well with the big hair dos, the shimmering jewellery and  the striking make up. You can pull all the stops on this one and get away with it. The fabric is usually chiffon and falls beautifully on the body. But on the down side of its smooth quality, maintenance can be quite tricky. Make sure the dress is pressed by the retailer or use a professional laundry service. But if you must iron always turn it inside out, if not the fabric can get burnt easily. Another problem faced by many ladies is the fact that many maxi dresses are sleeveless. Try fixing a cap sleeve like the white maxi worn by Olivia Wilde. Another option could be a beautiful scarf to cover the shoulders. J.Lo and Sonam Kapoor use the ‘cape/robe/shawl’ trend in these images.

The sheath dress

The sheath dress has always been a go-to when the event is more work related, for a ‘professional and stylish’ look. The structure of the dress itself is quite smart and sleek. The choice of basic colors would be best suited for corporate functions. The option of a blazer always seals the look. On the other hand these definitely are a party favorite with the right accessories and colors. This too allows to showcase your feet, so you can go crazy with the heels. And due to its versatility one can wear this many more times than the other options mentioned above, without others even noticing it’s the same dress. You can pair it with necklaces, bags or even shoes and create many different looks. Another plus in these types of dresses is that it costs much less than its other counterparts.
