Fazal Lafir of MSC and H.A.M. Rimzan of Army qualified to the final of the All Island Lanka Plate billiards tournament final by recording easy wins in the semi-final encounters played in the morning session at the Otters AC billiards table yesterday.

Lafir, son of World Billiard Champion and billiards maestro M.J.M. secured a comfortable three frames to one in the five frame encounter. Lafir though conceding the first frame to his opponent had little difficulty in brushing off the challenge of his opponent when he won the second, third and fourth frames with ease.

In contrast Rimzan had an easy passage against B.R. Tillekeratne of BRC whom he demolished by three frames to nil to book his berth to the final clash against Lafir which was due to be played later in the day.

The completion of the All Island Lanka Plate billiards tournament will see the top 16 players qualifying to play in the 65th Billiards National Championship which is scheduled to get underway next week.

The champion and runner up of the National Billiards Championship will qualify to play in the forthcoming World Billiards Championship which is scheduled to be held from December 5 to 12 in Bengalaru, India.
