A Bharatha Natyam recital by Seejith Krishna and Anjana Anandh from India will be held on October 17 at the Indian Cultural Centre on Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7 at 6 p.m.

Sheejith Krishna studied and then taught at Kalakshetra Foundation, the well known institution for the classical arts in Chennai, India, for 21 years (1989-2010). Now an independent artiste and choreographer, he has won many awards  and  a national production grant from the Government of India’s Ministry of Culture in 2015 for his original Bharatha natyam adaptation of  Don Quixote. His choreographies include Masquerade (2007), Krishna Bharatam (2009), Parinaamam (2010), Pravaha (2013), Yathadarshe Tathaatmani (2014) and Don Quixote (2015).

Anjana Anandh is a solo artiste who has performed in major venues in India and abroad. An alumnus of SIFAS (Singapore and Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts, Chennai), she is currently pursuing a Ph.D in BharathaNatyam under the guidance of Dr. S.Raghuraman. She is a founder member of Sahrdaya Foundation where she teaches and performs for the ensemble wing. She has performed in Just Us Repertory productions (Flame of the Forest (2007), Sakhi (2012), Fire and Ash (2015) and on collaborative projects with Apsaras Arts, Singapore (Nirmanika (2012) and Angkor Wat (2013). Anjana is a correspondent for the arts magazine Sruti.
