Sri Lanka China Society (SLCS) with the guidance and assistance from the Chinese embassy and in collaboration with other friendship organisations will celebrate the 67th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The ceremony is also held to mark the 35th anniversary of the setting up of Sri Lanka China Society in 1981 and the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and China, making the event a “Triple Celebration”.

The ceremony will start at 4 pm on September 29 at the committee room “A” of the BMICH. President Mithripala Sirisena will be the chief guest while the ambassador for People’s Republic of China will be the guest of honour.

Winners of an interschool essay competition held in connection with the celebrations will receive their awards. An SLCS souvenir containing information about China and its relations with Sri Lanka will be presented to the President and the ambassador and distributed among the invitees, says SLCS President Amaradasa Gunawardana.
