Rihanna has released a single called ‘Sledgehammer’ from the film Star Trek Beyond. The single is not featured on her current album ‘Anti’. The new Star Trek film is due to hit cinemas worldwide on July 22.

Rap star 50 Cent has been arrested on the West Indian island of St. Kitts for using indecent language during a music festival on 25th June. The ‘In Da Club and ‘Candy Shop’ hitmaker is reported to have paid a fine and left the country to return to the US.

US pop singer Meghan Trainor has stepped her security following the death of Christina Grimmie, a former finalist of the Voice – US. Grimmie was fatally shot while signing autographs after a concert.

Meanwhile Billboard magazine has organised a petition in its 22nd June issue demanding changes to the US gun control laws. Several personalities from the music industry have signed the petition amongst Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Adam Lambert, Barbra Streisand and many others. The petition was raised after the US Senate rejected gun control legislation on June 20.

With the music scene evolving pop stars need to be relevant. Usher is one star who has responded to the changes to stay relevant by signing up Scooter Braun as his new manager. Bruan is manager to Justin Bieber, Kanye West and Carly Rae Jepsen. Usher 28 has delayed his next album ‘Flawed’ until further notice. He has however released digitally two singles ‘No Limit’ and more recently ‘Crash’. He has released seven albums so far. His first came out in 1994 and last in 2012.

Following shock decision by the UK electorate to quit the EU, One Direction member Niall Horan has voiced his dismay at Brexit. He has joined other musicians such as former One Direction member Zayn Malik, Damon Albarn, Lily Allan and Bastille.

The UK singles top 10 chart did not show any sign of activity as nine out of the 10 songs simply held on to the previous week’s positions. Hence Drake’s ‘One Dance’ retained its position as chart champ for an 11 consecutive week. Once again Kungs vs Cookin’On 3 Burners ‘This Girl’ have been deprived of taking the No: 1 spot at the last moment.

The only song that managed to penetrate the UK top 10 singles chart is Sigla’s ‘Give Me Your Love’. The disco pop/nu disco track jumped from 91 to land at No: 9. performing vocals is John Newman while guitar maestro Nile Rodgers added his contribution on the back up chorus. ‘Give Me Your Love’ is DJ and producer Sigala’s fourth top 10 hit song on home soil. His last hit ‘Say You Do’ peaked at No: 5 this year as it featured Imani and DJ Fresh. Currently none of Sigala’s singles have been associated with an album.
