The Alliance Francaise de Colombo once again presents Fête de la Musique -  International Music Day 2016 on Saturday, July 2 at their auditorium at 11, Barnes Place (near Town Hall) , Colombo 7. All are welcome and entrance  is  free.

Many musicians, both professionals and others will be there to entertain you from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Annesley Malewana and his band Super Chimes will provide background  music for the participants.

The performances will include pop, jazz, reggae, folk, Country and Western, Calypso, dancing groups, baila etc… a meeting place of cultures and the opportunity to share the joy of listening and appreciating a variety of melodies in English, French, Sinhala, Hindi and Tamil.

Fête de la Musique -International Music Day which started off in 1982, saw amateur and professional musicians in France take to the streets on June 21st to celebrate the beginning of summer. On this day the whole of France breaks into a gigantic celebration of music, song and dance. People head for the city squares and parks and perform free for their own pleasure.

In Sri Lanka this event has grown in popularity and people of all ages come to see this event. Drinks and food will be available at reasonable rates.

Popular  musicians, Ronnie Leitch, Annesley Malewana, Judy de Silva, Dushyanth Weeraman, Jayantha Ratnayake, Anthony Surendra and some of the Sirasa Super Stars will perform as Guest Artists. There will be a special sing song session and Dancing with the Stars late afternoon.
