A unique art exhibition featuring paintings by well-known  Sri Lankan artist, Royden O Gibbs and photographs by  young Indian Anavi Singh was on at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery from May 28 – 30.

The exhibition titled ‘Monumental Connect and Many Other Shades’, organised by Aide-et-Action, featured the works of Royden Gibbs, executed during his month-long visit to Buddhist and Asaf Jah dynasty monuments in Hyderabad last year. Royden through his paintings highlights the architectural similarities between Indian and Sri Lankan Buddhist temples and monuments.

Anavi Singh, a student at the United World Institute of Design in India, has spent time in Sri Lanka and photographed extensively. In her photo exhibition, she presents her perceptions of various shades of Sri Lanka, as an Indian.

The exhibition beautifully highlights India as seen by a Sri Lankan and Sri Lanka as seen by an Indian. The proceeds of the exhibition is channeled towards vocational education and skills development of underprivileged youth of Sri Lanka.

Aide et Action is an International Development Agency working in 26 countries across the globe with a mission to change the world through education.
