The Coconut Development Authority (CDA) is seeking an auctioneer to conduct its weekly auctions, according to an announcement by the authority.

The CDA conducts fresh coconut and copra auctions every Thursday at the CDA office in Colombo while a fresh coconut auction is also held every Tuesday at the Sirimadura Reception Hall at Kuliyapiitya.

In the meantime, the CDA in another announcement said that coconut exports will be permitted under the following conditions with effect from May 2, 2016: Annual registration fee of Rs. 50,000 (VAT + NBT are applicable) for exporters who intend exporting up to 30,000 coconuts per month; annual registration fee of Rs. 500,000 (VAT + NBT are applicable) for exporters who intend exporting more than 30,000 coconuts per month. The CDA said the service fee of Rs. 5 per coconut charged from exporters at present, will be removed until further notice.
