26th Indo-Lanka IMBL annual meet for effective regional maritime security

The 26th International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) annual meeting between representatives of the Navies and Coastguards of Sri Lanka and India, was held on board SLNS Sagara at the Indo-Sri Lanka MBL off Kankasanthurai on Thursday, the Navy said.
The Sri Lankan delegation comprised Deputy Director General of the Sri Lanka Coastguard, Commodore Kassapa Paul and nine Naval officers led by the Commander- Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva. The Indian delegation was headed by Rear Admiral Alok Bhatnagar and included eight other Naval officers.

The annual Indo-Sri Lanka IMBL meeting provides an opportunity to exchange views and ideas with regard to operational effectiveness through common understanding of the Navies and Coastguards of the neighbours. Maintaining effective maritime security in the region by integration of forces through cooperation, coordination and collaboration was the primary focus of the meeting.
