Dr. Nihal Jayawickrama will deliver the Deshamanya P.R. Anthonis Memorial Lecture on May 11 at 5.30 p.m. at the Sasakawa Memorial Cultural Centre Auditorium. The event which is organised by the Lanka Japan Friendship Society will be on the subject “Healing the Nation – A Question of Leadership”. Dr. P.R. Anthonis who was born on January 21, 1911 passed away on December 17, 2009 aged 98 years. The iconic Surgeon who served the nation as its foremost medical practitioner for over 70 years,  had a long-standing relationship with Japan, the Embassy of Japan and the Japanese people. In recognition he was awarded the “Order of the Sacred Treasure” in 1981 by the Government of Japan. He served the Lanka Japan Friendship Society as its Vice Patron until his death in 2009.

Dr. Nihal Jayawickrama is a distinguished academic and former Secretary to the Ministry of Justice.
