O/L results: 9 of the top 12 from WP
View(s):Western Province (WP) students have emerged as top achievers at the 2015 GCE Ordinary Level Exam, according to results released by the Examinations Department last night.
Nine of the top 12 performers are from the WP.
S. Sathsarani Hettiarachchi- Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo 5, came 1st in the island. K.K. Samal Punsara- Nalanda College Colombo 10, came 2nd and R. Maleena Rathnayake – Devi Balika Vidyalaya Colombo 8 and R.M. Indeewari Umayanga Kumari Rathnayaka- Mahamaya Balika Vidyalaya Kandy came 3rd.
Other students in the top 12 are: (4th) H.M.G. Ranidu Arunaja Herath- Nalanda College Colombo 10, (5th) Nevindu Amajith Walpita- Ananda College Colombo 10, (6th) S.J. Hirusha Nethsara of Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Gampaha, (7th) A. Tharushi Anjalika- Sri Sumangala Balika Maha Vidyalaya Panadura and Dineth Sanjula Jayakody- Maris Stella College Negombo, (8th) W.A.I. Chathuranga Wijayasinghe Ananda College Colombo 10, A.S. Amaya Nanayakkara- Southlands College Galle, and W.A.D.Y. Wellappuli of Rahula College Matara.
A total of 664,537 candidates sat last year’s exam, making it the highest number of O/L candidates recorded in the country’s history.
