With one year of presence in Sri Lanka, online job portal everjobs.lk plans to have offline job fairs in various parts of the country to boost its online platform, says Gijs Verheijke, Regional CEO for everjobs.lk in Asia.  He made this comment to the Business Times on the sidelines of a media briefing at the Kingsbury in Colombo last Wednesday to announce the company’s first anniversary.  Mr. Verheijke said, “We at everjobs.lk have partnered with local universities in Sri Lanka to organise offline events and job fairs while our goal is to eventually bring everyone looking for job vacancies online.

Offline jobs always existed in Sri Lanka in newspapers and we will never be able to compete with them. We want to specialise ourselves on the online job platform”.  He noted that the company is active in some of the most interesting and emerging economies in the world. “Our main goal is not only to grow in those markets but to have an impact on the country’s development. By providing a simple and effective online career portal, we are changing the game for both employers and professionals making it far easier for them to find each other than before,” Mr. Verheijke told reporters.  One year after commencing operations in Sri Lanka, everjobs.lk has a database of over 35,000 registered job seekers and over 2,500 employers.

The online portal connects the most progressive companies in Sri Lanka with the most qualified people offering a hassle-free platform and cost effective services over the recruiting process.  Everjobs.lk Head of Business Development Venkat Iyengar said, “In Sri Lanka people are looking for job vacancies in the fields of IT, banking, financial service, apparel, education, telecommunication, healthcare, hospitality and tourism. While the Internet penetration is 4.3 million and mobile phone penetration is 85 per cent of the total population, we are hoping to double the data base of employees looking for jobs this year. Our presence is strongly seen in Colombo, Galle, Matara and Kandy”.
