Maliyadeva clinches both under 11 and 13 titles at team Chess festival

Maliyadeva College Kurunegala bagged both under 11 and under 13 ‘A’ division boy’s team championship titles at the All Island inter school team Chess festival held at Moratu Vidyalaya in Moratuwa recently.
In the under 11 category Maliyadeva (27 points) were ranked first ahead of Dharmaraja College Kandy (26 points) and St John’s College Nugegoda ( 23 points) while in the under 13 category they overcame Royal College Colombo (25 points) by gaining 26 points. The winning teams are coached by Prabath Rupassara with S.I.N. Wickramatillake as his assistant. Maliyadeva were also runner-up to D.S. Senanayake College in the under 17 category in the all island team Chess festival held at Science College premises in Mt Lavinia.
