The Muhurath ceremony for ‘Dedunne Pata Aran’ the newest film direction by seasoned filmmaker Priyantha Colambage was held recently.

The new fil comes in the aftermath of ‘Adaraneeya Kathawak’ (A Melody of Love) a musical movie which was released last year.

Hemal Ranasinghe who played the lead role in Adaraneeya Kathawak is to play the lead role in this film while a host of young and famous stars are also to play in the new film. Doland Jayantha is the Assistant director.

Priyantha’s earlier movie ‘Arumosam Wehi’ in 2002 won international accolades including the award for excellence at the 2007 China International Children’s Film Festival.

But after that Priyantha was silent for more than a decade making a fulltime career in fulltime advertising field.

Priyantha returned to cinema teaming up with Chaminda Gamage, the son of late journalist, writer and lyricist Dharmasiri Gamage.

Priyantha made his debut film “Dehena”(Trance), in which he set a new record in Sri Lankan cinema becoming the youngest film director.

He made this film while he was just nineteen years of age. In 1998, Dehena won the highest number of awards for Sri Lanka and represented the country at the Tokyo International Film Festival.

His second film “Vimukthi”(Salvation) was the unanimous choice of local film critics to represent Sri Lanka at the Kerala, Milwelly and Cairo International Film Festivals.
