Sudesh Umayanga slammed a career best knock of 182 with 17 boundaries and four sixes for Panadura SC to amass a score of 409 against Navy SC in the Emerging Trophy cricket encounter played at Panadura Esplanade.

Sudesh who was unbeaten on 140 on day one and having associated in an unbroken 165 runs for the fourth wicket with Chandima Prasad added a further 47 runs before being separated with the dismissal of Chandima who made a 76 inclusive of six boundaries and a six.

Sudesh did not last long thereafter and the late order batting failed to make any impression as Panadura SC lost their remaining five wickets for the addition of only 30 runs to end with a score of 409.

Right arm spinner Ashan Ranasinghe ended with a seven wicket haul and Navy SC in their turn spearheaded by an unbeaten 93 runs by Sameera Sandamal ended the day on 257 for 7. Sameera’s knock comprised eight boundaries and five sixes.

Air Force SC has already gained a first inning lead over PoliceSC when play ended on day two in the match played at the Air Force ground in Katunayake.

Police SC resuming on their overnight score of one for no loss was bowled out for 177. The opening day’s play saw Air Force SC taking first lease of the wicket helped by half tons from Lahiru Sri Lakmal and Achira Eranga making a score of 292.

Kalutara TC was heading for an early outright win against Moratuwa SC when play ended on the second day in the match played at De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa.

Bowlers Navin Kavikara and Heshan de Silva who together shared nine wickets between them as the duo sent the home team batting reeling for a low score of 116.

Earlier in the day Kalutara TC resuming on their overnight score of 232 for 6, went on to make 276 which came on the back of half tons by Geeth Perera and Chamod Silva.

Moratuwa SC made to follow on with a deficit of 160 runs was struggling on 92 for 6 needing another 68 runs to save the match when play gets underway today.

BRC had already taken a first inning lead over Kalutara PCC at the end of the morning session of play in the match played at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona.

BRC having made 179 on day one bowled out Kalutara PCC resuming on their overnight score of 64 for 3 to a score of 160 with right arm pacie Vikum Sanjaya doing the damage.

The opening day’s play between Kurunegala YCC and Lankan CC at Welagedara Stadium in Kurunegala got off to a late start at 1.00 p.m. with KYCC batting ending the day on 123 for 4. The match will be continued today. – MSA
