Seminar: “Know well your Heart… and Bypass Heart Surgery”
View(s):The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka in association with the Heart to Heart Trust Fund, will hold a seminar/forum on “Bypass Heart Surgery” on Friday, December 4 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Chamber auditorium, No 450, D.R. Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo 10.
A panel of leading doctors will make presentations on important topics:
- Dr. Rajitha de Silva, Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon , Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital will speak on Bypass Heart Surgery -advantages/risks, Keyhole coronary bypass surgery, Robotic arm assisted minimally invasive cardiac surgery-(the smallest incision to provide the safest and most successful surgery.)
- Dr. Ruwan Ekanayake, Consultant Cardiologist, will speak on all aspects of heart diseases, prevention and care, advice to patients after a heart attack etc.
The Heart to Heart Trust Fund was co-founded by Dr. de Silva and Dr. Ekanayake to help the poor and underprivileged (who cannot afford to meet the heavy financial costs) to have free heart surgeries, fully paid by the fund.
Monies donated by well wishers, entrepreneurs and public to this Fund are utilized for this purpose. Another significant feature at the SJGH is the -Keyhole coronary bypass surgery performed for the first time in January this year, by Dr Rajitha de Silva, a first in government-sector hospitals.
- Dr. Athula Kahandaliyanage, Chairman, Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital and Director, Dr. Susitha Senaratne will address the gathering.
