The morning session of play on day two saw left arm spinner Ishan Samsudeen ending with impressive figures of 5 for 31 and was supported by Sajith Sameera enabling the Zahirians bundle out the visitors for a low score of 86.

This was after Sajith Sameera and Mohamed Ahnaf shone with the bat on the opening day. Sameera cracked a 143 which included 25 boundaries while Ahnaf made a 90 with 14 boundaries and two sixes with the pair giving a flying start putting on 166 runs which paved the way for Zahira to make a formidable score of 366 for 9 declared. A six-wicket haul by Thaneesha Weerakoon and fine knock of 96 by Hashan Wanasekera paved the way fro St. Peter’s to record an innings and 25 runs win against De Mazenod in the match concluded at Kandana yesterday.

Two fine knocks by Geshan Panditharatne who cracked an unbeaten 150 with 13 boundaries and two sixes and Thiran Dhanapala who made a 115 inclusive of nine boundaries and half a dozen sixes helped Royal register a first inning win over St. Sebastian’s in the match which ended at Moratuwa yesterday.

Duvindu Tillekeratne and Lahiru Kumara shared nine wickets between them helping Trinity to make a come back after Wesley had dominated proceedings on day one in the match played at Campbell Park.

An allround performance by 15 year old Dilum Sudeera who made twin half tons and ended with a match bag of 16 for for 50 enabled Karandeniya Central after conceding a first inning lead to Revatha MMV Balapitiya record a 98 runs win in the match concluded at Karandeniya.

Lumbini MV has already taken a first inning lead over Moratu MV in a low scoring match which began at the Colts ground yesterday.
