Sixteen year old Josephian all rounder Jehan Daniel made a dream debut for the Sri Lanka Under 19 when he stroked a half century and picked up a wicket with his very first ball against the Pakistan Under 19 team in the 2nd Youth Test played at Hambantota.

Daniel, who came into bat at number eight, hit a 62 ball half century with four boundaries in Sri Lanka’s first innings total of 305.

He then returned to open the bowling and trapped Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique lbw with the very first delivery of the innings. Daniel finished with 2/30 in 12 overs in the game that ended in a draw.

In the first ODI played between the two countries Daniel once again picked up two wickets in an impressive opening spell that read 5- 2-8-2 .

Earlier Anandian Sammu Ashan hit a fine century in Sri Lankan total of 239 that eventually helped Sri Lanka beat Pakistan on the D/L method after bad light intervened.

The second ODI between the two countries will be played tomorrow at the NCC grounds.
