Well known educationist Elizabeth Moir was appointed a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) by Queen Elizabeth II, in recognition of her ‘services to British education and the teaching of English in Sri Lanka’.

Elizabeth Moir MBE, graduated in mathematics, with a Diploma in Education, from Oxford University. She arrived in Sri Lanka in 1982, and has since founded and managed three of the top international schools in the country, including Elizabeth Moir School, which this year obtained some of the best A Level results of any international school in the world.

She also initiated the Follow Me English Programme which reached six million Sri Lankans.
