Samin and Rahal win Jeep Wrangler Southern Night Rally 2015
Samin Attanayake and Rahal Uluwita collected the minimum debit points to win the rain hampered grueling 455 kilometer Jeep Wrangler Southern Night Rally 2015, yesterday.
The first of the forty competitors was flagged off at 7pm on Friday by Mayor of Matara Ranjith Yasarathna to negotiate the grueling 455 kilometer course through the wilderness of the South in inclement weather which resulted in many thrills and spills and high debit points.
Samin and Rahal won stage one with 59 debits and stage two with 94 debits to become overall champs while Safraz Junaid and Lasitha Rajapaksa were distant runners-up with 1222 points. Last year’s winner Nalin Premarathna was placed fifth
Safraz Junaid and Lasitha Rajapaksa were the runners up in stage one while Sam Chandrasoma and S K Methunsanka recovered from a spill in stage one to finish second in stage two.
The 455 kilometer course which ran through the back roads of Matara and Galle Districts was plotted by Andrew Silva comprised of 41 check points.
