The 3rd annual Inter School Golf Championship 2015 organised by the past pupils of the Holy Family Convent and hosted by National Development Bank (NDB) together with the Royal Colombo Golf Club will tee-off on September 6 at the RCGC Golf Course.

‘Dons Golf’ in association with the Royal Colombo Golf Club inaugurated the ‘RCGC Inter-School Golf Championship’ in 2013. The key focus of this event was to kick-start a much needed inter-school tournament that has always had a significant demand. In its second consecutive year, the inter-school golf tournament has become one of the most desirable events in Colombo’s golfing calendar.

The tournament will be played on a five ball Stableford basis and will feature more than 240 golfers representing twenty four schools including five girls schools from allover Sri Lanka.

The schools participating are:
Nalanda College, Ananda College, Royal College, S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia, Wesley College, Trinity College, St. Benedict’s College, St. Joseph’s College, D.S. Senanayake College, St. Peter’s College, St. Sylvester’s College, St. Anthony’s College, S. Thomas’ Prep School, Isipathana College, Thurstan College, Ladies’ College, Holy Family Convent, Visakha Vidyalaya, St. Bridget’s Convent, Bishop’s College, Asian International School. Kingswood College Kandy, Christian College Kotte and Dharmapala Vidyalaya Pannipitiya.
Mostly schoolboys and girls of yesteryear including present school children will be participating in this championship which has become a much anticipated annual club event. As this is the only dedicated inter-school golf tournament in the country and the organisers and the sponsor’s main target is popularisation of the game. Apart from the fantastic golfing opportunity, the tournament is known to be one of the most lucrative social events of the year.
Men, women and juniors with a club handicap are invited to contest in this tournament for prestigious golfing awards coupled with a host of attractive rewards and gifts. The event will be conducted in a ‘Big Match’ atmosphere, with a live band and entertainment features keeping the participants enthused throughout the day. The tournament will conclude with the awards ceremony.
