Moratuwa Sports Club recorded a well deserved first innings win over Ragama Cricket Club in the SLC Under-23 Division I match concluded at the De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa yesterday. Only two days of play was possible in the match with second day’s proceedings being hampered by rain without a ball being bowled. The third day’s play saw Moratuwa SC, resuming on their overnight score of 215 for 7, going on to make 253. Ragama CC despite half tons scored by Thilaksha Sumanasiri and Supeshala Jayatileke succeeded to muster a score of only 186 runs.

NCC dominated proceedings against Air Force SC when play ended on day two in the match played at the Air Force ground in Katunayake. NCC, resuming on their overnight score of 343 for 8, went on make a formidable score of 382 which came on the back of a knock of 118 by Milan Abetsekera and a 79 by Niroshan Dickwella.

Air Force SC in their turn was able to muster a score of only 187 and were made to follow on with a deficit of 195 runs. They were struggling on 59 for 3 needing another 136 runs to avoid an innings defeat when play begins on the final day today. Moors SC thanks to Prashan Ratnayake and Sandaken Pathirana recovered from a bad position of 128 for 7 to end with a respectable 209 runs to take a first inning lead on day two in the match played at Braybrooke Place. This was in reply to Saracens SC’s 187. Saracens SC batting the second time ended the day on 153 for 4.

SSC was sitting pretty against CCC when play ended on the second day in the match played at the CCC ground. CCC, resuming on their overnight score of 74 for 7, were bowled out for 99. SSC in their turn guided by Ramesh Mendis and Sanka Ramesh made a formidable total of 313.

Panadura SC took a first innings lead over Navy SC in the match played at the Panadura Esplande. Panadura SC after making a score of 204 restricted the Sailors to a score of 186 while SLPA CC was on top against Negombo CC when play ended on day at Kadirana.
