Rumours, one of the premier unisex Hair & Beauty Salons in Colombo, is all set to celebrate 35 years in the industry in grand style. Their gala event ‘Hit The Red Carpet,’ a night of fashion, live acts, music, dance and all the glitz and glamour of the trade, is designed for the ultimate ‘party goer’.

Rumours launched its new station at the iconic British heritage tea site of Harrison’s on Darley Road, Colombo 10 with the red carpet with street stalls, cocktail bars and partying till dawn with YES FM’s Dominic and Asanka and Legends DJ Niranjan.

Thirty five years in the hair and beauty business is no mean achievement. Not only is it an industry milestone but it is also what the salon counts as experience to draw from. From a fledgling salon back then, Rumours today is a slick state-of-the art operation outfitted with the best equipment in the trade including a non-surgical facelift machine ‘CACI,’ enabling them to perform non intrusive facelifts with ease. The salon’s team of expert professionals are specially trained and capable of performing a range of beauty treatments for both women and men.

Known as a trendsetter, Rumours is not a stranger to men’s fashions. They say that men in Colombo, like those everywhere else in the world, are more conscious about their looks than ever before. Gone are the days when the rough, tough and John Wayne ruggedness won the day. It is the metrosexual man of this generation that the world seems to find attractive and the men in Colombo are determined to keep up with the times, or so says Chantal Cook, Consultant at Rumours Salon, which counts over three decades of experience in the hair and beauty business. She says that the local men are serious about grooming and do not hesitate to go to the extent of seeking professional assistance and expertise in getting it right.

“As a matter of fact men seem even more interested in grooming; than their female counterparts,” says Chantal, adding that the beauty industry is currently seeing a major boost in Sri Lanka with everyone taking a keen interest in looking good and feeling great. ”The confidence of knowing they are properly groomed creates a great impact on a person’s life, be it for personal or professional reasons,” says the expert beautician.

According to Chantal, men walking into the salon for haircuts, other hair related treatments as well as manicures, pedicures is a common occurrence. She says foot massages are very popular amongst both sexes as they relieve the stress of busy everyday life. Another significant demand is for men’s facials, “today’s men are conscious and aware of the importance of presenting a good appearance both in their personal and business lives and it is encouraging that they want healthy, youthful looking skin as much as a woman would,” says Chantal adding that Rumours has the expertise to handle any need modern trends require.
