CCC Young Members’ Forum’s Career Guidance programme at Peradeniya University

The Young Members Forum of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, which recently launched a career guidance programme to help university students, conducted this event at the University of Peradeniya.

Endorsed by the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Peradeniya, the full day programme held at the university premises focused on educating the final year undergraduates on ‘Insight to the world of work’, ‘Writing effective CVs’, ‘How to face an interview’, and also on ‘Developing positive attitudes and Entrepreneurship skills’, according to a chamber statement.

“We launched this programme in order to lift the knowledge level of the university undergraduates and guide them to choose the right career path and help drive the economy of our country,” said Mangala P.B. Yapa, CEO/Secretary General of the chamber. It was attended by more than 150 undergraduates with the resource persons being Alex Samuel, General Manager – HRM of Sunshine Holdings PLC; Ms. Ranmali Wickramasinghe and Pradeep Yahampath of Sphere Academy & Management Consultants Pvt Ltd and Viraj Mendis, Head of Personal Financial services of Hatton National Bank.

“This programme helped our students to gain knowledge about the current job market and existing employment opportunities,” said Dr Chandana Jayawardena, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Agriculture at University of Peradeniya.
