World Premiere for “Silence in the Courts” in Russia

Prasanna Vithanage’s maiden documentary film “Silence in the Courts” centring around a true story where a sitting judge sexually abused a suspect’s wife, will have its world premiere at 5th On the Edge International Film Festival in Sakhalin, Russia from August 21 to 27.

The film will be showcased at “films connected with personalities who became our friends during the festival’s history” section. Vithanage previously won the Russian Film Critic’s Prize for his 7th feature film “With You, Without You”. The infamous case relating to judge Lenin Ratnayake during the late 90s, “Silence in the Courts” portrays a quest for justice by two women and a journalist.

“Silence in the Courts” is written and directed by Prasanna Vithanage and is produced by H.D. Premasiri. M.D. Mahindapala acted as the Director of Photography, while Sreekar Prasad did the editing. Tapas Nayak did the sound design and music was composed by K. Rahul Roy, M.D. Mahindapala, Daminda D. Madawala and Vindana Ariyawansa contributed as the Executive Producers.
