Filmmaker and playwright Sugath Samarakone’s latest theatrical direction ‘V.I.P Sundarabanda’ will be staged at the YMBA hall, Borella on August 23. This is the premiere show of the play that is depicted as a political comedy.

Sugath Samarakone was famous for his controversial plays like ‘Uthure Rahula Himi’ and ‘Commando Diyasena’ and he later joined cinema directing ‘Vijeya Kuweni’ and ‘Ehelepola Kumarihamy’. His latest film ‘Ape Kale Patachara’ is to be released soon.

‘V.I.P. Sundarabanda’ is played by Sanjaya Samarakone, Risly Weeraratne, Chandu Imbulana, Ranjith Vitharana, Nalin Guruge, Suranga Chandrasiri, Lasantha Samarakone, Nobert Perera, Felician Perera,, Priyanga Vishwajith, Wasanthi Senrath, Priya Vithanarachchi and Sathya Lakmali. Cinema and TV star Vinu Siriwardena who was adjudged beauty queen 2012 will make her debut appearance on the stage with ‘V.I.P. Sundarabanda’.

Produced by Samantha Weerakone, the musical score of the play is done by Ramesh Jayasinghe and make up is by Kavinda Chathuranga. Stage management is by Nobert Perera and Suranga Chandrasiri and lighting is by Sunil Samarakone.
