About my pet

I have a pet. It is a dog. Its name is Blacky. It is brown and black in colour. It wags its tail when it wants something. I take it every day for an evening walk. It likes to play with sticks and a ball. It likes to eat bones. It likes to drink milk.
It barks when visitors come to visit us. It can run fast. Our house is guarded by Blacky because dogs catch thieves. Blacky hates cats and rats. It usually eats dog biscuits.
Blacky plays with me and my sister. It likes to stay in the water for more than one hour. It catches butterflies. Every Sunday we take Blacky to the beach and he plays with us. He gets very scared in the time of the New Year when people put fireworks.
I love my pet Blacky and I am lucky to have a dog like him.

Importance of water
Some needs in our lives are very urgent and important. Water is one of the most important needs in our life. Water is made up of Hydrogen and Oxygen. Water adds a cooling effect. We cannot survive without it.

But do you think that we use it the right way? The answer would surely be a big No! Humans always waste water. Some also don’t keep water reservoirs clean. They pollute it so much that fish don’t have a clean place to live in, people don’t get clean and fresh water to use and even the air becomes unclean.

But we still have a chance to stop this. Here are some tips; Close taps, showers or tanks after use, Do not use too much shampoo because it pollutes the water, Use recycle bins to put garbage instead of dumping it in water reservoirs. After you wash your face or brush your teeth you must make sure to close the taps in-between.

If we continue these good habits, the world will be a better place. As the saying goes, “Water is not the source of life, it is life!”

My views on co-educational schools

The Greek philosopher Plato said that co-educational schools create a feeling of comradeship. He advocated teaching both males and females in the same institution without any discrimination in imparting of education. Co-education is a system of educating pupils of both sexes together. There are many advantages, as well as a few disadvantages to
co-educational schools.

When people step out into the world, they have to work with members of the opposite gender. If they are exposed to this environment since childhood, they will have no problem in communicating with each other. Misconceptions are cleared. It reduces sexism in people. Plato believed that co-education helped develop the personality of both men and women and was the only method to make them useful members of society.

In my opinion, co-education should be encouraged throughout the world as then both boys and girls interact and understand each other better. They become broad-minded and tolerant towards the opposite sex and leads to a healthy and harmonious relationship between each other. It provides a more realistic way of training young people to take their places in society and provides an excellent foundation for the development of meaningful and lasting relationships later in life.

Co-education is economical. Poorer countries cannot afford to open separate schools so if both are taught together, the cost is less.  In academic terms, advocates of single sex schools sometimes claim that such schools have academically better examination results. But in truth this may be due to the socio-economic background of the students.

In the fast changing society of today, co-education has become the order of the day. Today’s children are tomorrow’s citizens. We must encourage them to develop their personalities in a free and healthy atmosphere. In my opinion,  co-education will help both genders to work together for the progress of the country and their own future.

My favourite film series
My most favourite film series is Merlin. It has grown into a popular television programme in the world. It consists of five seasons. The fourth and the fifth seasons are darker and scarier than the others.  Merlin is the main character. The other characters are Arthur, Morgana, Guinevere, Gaius and Uthur. There are additional characters such as Princess Mithian, Morgause, Freya, Mordred etc., in each episode. This is a story full of sorcery, magic, witchcraft etc.

Merlin is the servant of Prince Arthur. After the death of King Uthur, Arthur becomes the King of Camelot and makes Guinevere his queen. Merlin’s destiny is to protect King Arthur. Merlin protected him as Emrys the most powerful sorcerer in the world. After the war held between King Arthur and Morgana, King Arthur dies and Camelot is ruled by Guinevere. That is how the story ends in season 5 and I am looking forward for season 6 to come. I like to watch Merlin again and again, more than any other film.

An autobiography of a tree
Hello! I am a mango tree. I am also very green and leafy. I have long branches, a bark etc. There are some pretty birds building their nests in me. I like my friends a lot. The birds, my friends have babies. They are like my siblings. I have another friend, the grass. She is always talking to me. But I am sad when people trample her. Many people and kids pick the fruits which I bear. The woodcutters try to cut my wood,  but I cry and beg them and they don’t cut me.

When the rain comes, I save my friends the birds. They always thank me. I get wet but I don’t care.  I am happy when I help everyone. But when winter comes all my beautiful green leaves go away. I feel sad without my leaves. My friends also leave me and go to another place for shelter. I am so bored without my friends. I suffer a lot but when spring comes, all my leaves grow and all the tasty mangoes grow and also my friends come back to live with me. I feel so happy and I enjoy spring with my friends.

My lamp
I have a kerosene lamp at home. As we don’t have electricity, I study in the light of this lamp. My mother fills it daily.
Sometimes, I clean the lamp. On other days, my mother cleans its chimney, as it has to be done carefully. I like my lamp which is to light my aim.

Mother’s love
When I am in sorrow,
You make me happy.
When I am afraid,
You make me brave.

When I am doing wrong,
You help me to correct it.
When I am in difficulty,
You help me to succeed in life.

I must thank you because,
You care about me,
You fed me, you loved me,
As I loved you.

Development of transportation

Advances in technology have allowed people to travel further, explore more territory and  expand their influence over larger and larger areas within a short time. The first earth tracks were  created by humans, carrying goods. As animals were  domesticated, horses, oxen and donkeys became elements in track-creation. Animal-drawn wheeled vehicles were probably developed in the Ancient East in the 4th or 5th millennium BC. The Romans had a significant need for good roads to extend and maintain their empire and developed Roman roads.

In the Industrial Revolution, John Loudon McAdam designed the first modern road using inexpensive paving material. Then the development of motor transport began.  Innovation continues today and transport researchers are working to find new ways to reduce costs and increase  transport efficiency.
