The newly updated website of Power and Energy Minister Champika Ranawaka was launched on May 22, in front of the Sigiriya Rock entrance flanked by the two famed lion paws. The Minister said that he completed 14 years as a politician on that day.

“It was on May 22 in 2001 that I first took oaths as an MP. As for the choice of Sigiriya as a venue, it was because of the cultural and technological importance this place holds. Written records have it that Sigiriya is about 1500 years old; but its past actually runs even further back.

“If we are to develop our country, we have to build an inventive economy. The launch of this website by the lion paws is a symbol of what the future holds: an inventive economy; an economy based on knowledge; and a society which retains values as well as technology. The website, www.champikaranawaka.net, also contains books and documents written by Minister Ranawaka.
