Trinity’s Shanogeeth Shanmuganathan slammed 270 against Sri Rahula Katugastota in their Under-17 Division I cricket tournament encounter played at Asgiriya which paved the way for Trinity to record a massive 371 runs win.

The left-handed batsman’s unbeaten knock made in just 152 balls comprised 32 boundaries and 16 sixes. He was involved in two fruitful partnerships first of 114 runs for the fifth wicket with Trevon Percivel and the other of an unbroken 114 runs stand for the sixth wicket with Poorna Wanasekera which helped Trinity amass a record score of 404 for 5 in their allotted 50 overs.

Later the left-arm spin and pace combination of Rashmika Dilshan and Trevon Percivel along with Mohamed Shohib who together shared nine wickets combined to bundle out their opponents for a meager score of just 33 runs.

According to officials of the SLSCA the knock of 270 by Shanogeeth is a record in the Under-17 Division I tournament with previous best being a 208 made by Avishka Fernando of St. Sebastian’s.

The SLSCA official was unable to confirm the massive score of 404 as the highest of the tournament but said it could most probably be a record.

A hurricane unbeaten knock of 125 in just 58 balls by all rounder Randeera Ranasinghe helped St. Anne’s College Kurunegala to an easy 182 run victory over Anuradhapura Central College in their All-Island Inter-School Under-17 Division I cricket tournamnt match played at Anuradhapura.
Ranasinghe smashed 3 sixes and 14 fours for his 58 ball knock and St. Anne’s made 281 for 6 in their 46 overs after put in to bat by their opposition. The match was reduced to a 46 over game after rain delayed the start.

In reply Anuradhapura Central made only 99 in 37.1 overs. Randeera Ranasinghe continued his good performances by capturing 4 for 12 from 7.1 overs.
