Recently 15 students who successfully completed the certificate programmes on F&B Service, Culinary Arts and Hotel Operation from ‘Harpo’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management’ Galle branch received their certificates from MD Harpo Gooneratne.

The school currently conducts five courses, Food and Beverage Service, Housekeeping, Front Office, Culinary Arts and Hotel Operations. With Sri Lanka Tourism facing major challenges largely due to the expansion of the hotel sector with new ventures, the migration of skilled labour and the need for skilled labour, the importance for youth to be trained in the hotel industry is ever more evident.

In respect of this, HSHTM has continued to train batches of students in the Galle District since 2013. These students also have the opportunity to obtain employment at Harpo’s Cafes & Restaurants to gain industrial experience.

The presentation was attended by HSTHM MD Harpo Gooneratne, HSHTM Galle branch Principal Asela Wijethunga and Lecturer Harsha Goonewardene.
