Sahana Balasubramanya, a Bharata Natyam exponent from India will present a recital at 6 p.m. on December 16 at the Indian Cultural Centre auditorium at 16/2 Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7.

Twenty two-year-old Sahana is one of the most promising young artists of today. She underwent training at Ganesa Natyalaya, Delhi, under the renowned Guru Saroja Vaidyanathan for 12 years in the Tanjavur style of Bharata natyam.

Sahana has performed widely as a solo performer and received critical acclaim for the same. She is also a member of her guru’s troupe and has danced at major festivals both in India and abroad.

Sahana has also conducted dance workshops in India and abroad and was selected to be the lead dancer for the Bharata natyam segment, in the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, 2010, held at Delhi. She is a senior dance faculty member at Ganesa Natyalaya.
All are welcome. Admission is free and seats are on first-come first-served basis.
