A journey through the wilds of Sri Lanka spanning 35 years is what nature photographer Chitral Jayatilake will offer visitors in collaboration with his daughter Ashvini Jayatilake when they present ‘Art in the Wild’. The exhibition by the father-daughter

duo will be open to the public on December 17 and 18.

Chitral has had a colourful career as a wildlife photographer, spanning over three decades and is presently head of nature based tourism at Cinnamon Hotels.

Ashvini began accompanying her father to the jungles when she was just seven, and quickly grasped the basics of photography winning the second prize at the Junior Nature Photographer competition in 2008.

She held an exhibition along with her photography partner Dimitri Goonawardena titled Kids on Safari in 2011 and published her coffee table book ‘Growing in the Wild’ last year.

Studying for her A’Ls at Musaeus College, Ashvini finds nature photography is almost therapeutic to relax and recharge before getting back to studies and sports, For Chitral, his dream of positioning Sri Lanka as the next best thing to Africa takes another step with this exhibition.
