Two Sri Lankan siblings Samanalie and Haveesha Perera, now living in New Zealand with their parents are showing great progress in the field of sports. Samanalie, the older sister who is 12-years-old, is making headway in netball and swimming while Haveesha, 10-years-old, is excelling in cricket as well as karate.

Samanalie represents the Mighty Magic Netball team of Saint Benedict’s School in Khandallah, Wellington and is a prominent component in the unit. Her team, who holds the Wellington Northern Suburbs Netball 2014 Grade Series, played 12 games so far in the winter season and have won 10 of them. Samanalie plays as a wing defence.

Her brother Haveesha who is doing well in cricket, has shown his prowess in indoor cricket as well. While representing his school team in cricket, Haveesha plays for a junior domestic team in indoor cricket, that went on clinch the Wellington World Series Cricket Division 5 championship. In addition he is a purple belt holder in karate with several medals under his tally. He has won a gold medal in forms and a silver medal in self-defence in the New Zealand Kenpo Karate Association 2014 competition.

The two siblings’ parents Anuruddha Perera and Rasanya Kumarasinghe are providing their children with all the support they need.
