Tilak Nanda Hettiarachchi’s second play ‘Guti Kemata Niyamithai’ has recently performed 50th shows. In his debut direction ‘Gabsawa’ Tilak discussed a social issue and in his latest he deals with a political theme in a lighter vein. In short the play revolves around three symbolic characters a flour mite, a drop of sweat and a used cigar each representing different social and political strata.

“In this play I wanted to discuss some of those exemplary characters whom the society looked up to. Specially what had happened to politicians of once respected political parties. Where do they stand today and what had happened to their ideologies and principles,” Tilak said speaking to the TV Times.

Even though the title is suggestive of light and simple entertainment, it discusses a serious political issue underneath, he said. Produced and presented by Jude Srimal for Nirmala Prakashana, the main cast of the play includes three talented actors W. Jayasiri, Sarath Kothalawala and Dharmapriya Dias. Behind the screen stage lighting is handled by Chandana Aluthge, music is by Shantha Peiris and make up by Saman Hemarathne.
