Last week, we featured the young designers who opened the HSBC Colombo Fashion Week Resort Wear show at Jetwing Blue, Negombo and this Sunday, we take a look at the styles that hit the runway on Day 2 as more exciting collections were unveiled.

Shayani Alwis presented primarily white, lacey and occasionally beaded creations with billowy skirts and sleeves. Udaya Wickramasinghe had traditional wood carvings and motifs as inspiration, and used 3D design and crotchet techniques. Hasara Kulatunga, was drawn to the sunny pastel shades of beach huts in Sweden and England, and brought in burnout techniques, washes and spray painting to create a collection in pretty pastels.

‘Pricked by an Araliya’ was Aseka de Silva’s interestingly- named collection, with a ‘petals and thorns’ theme with elements of batik. More batik appeared at the finale with young designer Peronie Stefel. Peronie incidentally was the recipient of the Colombo Fashion Week Fashion Fund.
