The Royal Colombo Golf Club signed a landmark reciprocal membership programme with the popular Taiheiyo Club Japan in an agreement at the RCGC last week.

Taheiyo Club which boasts of 17 PGA standard golf courses in Japan and with a strong membership of 17,000 members hopes to foster sport tourism within the island. This agreement will see players of both clubs taking advantage of playing free of charge at each other’s courses.
This programme has been the brainchild of Mr. Takashi Igarashi the Chairman of NWS Holdings who was instrumental in introducing Taiheiyo to Sri Lanka.

“There is a huge opportunity to promote golf in this country with its beautiful weather and comfortable life style. I have fostered a desire to bring in wealthy Japanese tourists drawing affluent and high spending visitors to the country” said Mr. Igarashi

The Captain of the RCGC Michael Magala in his speech said that it was a wonderful opportunity for both parties to benefit and looks forward to a wonderful partnership in the future.
