A Coaching Workshop conducted by Dr. Rene Ferdinands (International Cricket Coaching Consultant) will be held on the 6th of October to 12th October 2104 at the National Training Centre, Max Academy RPICS organised by the National Coaching Department of SLC. Dr. Ferdinands will cover subjects on the lines of Spin Bowling, and will also cover biomechanics in the area of fast bowling and batting. Dr. Rene Ferdinands

Sri Lankan born, Dr. Ferdinands is an international cricket coaching consultant, having a specialist research background in cricket biomechanics, supported by cricket playing and professional coaching experience.

A former first-class cricketer, Dr Ferdinands is currently appointed as a technical coach at the Sydney University Cricket Club (Sydney Grade Level), working to develop elite player squads of batsmen, fast bowlers and spin bowlers by improving technical efficiency and diversity. He is regularly invited to perform coaching consultancy services around the world.

In 2009, he was a biomechanics coaching consultant at the Indian National Cricket Academy (N.C.A., Bangalore), presenting a series of seminars and workshops on cricket biomechanics and coaching to elite Indian coaches, players and administrators. In 2013, Dr. Ferdinands held an Advanced Cricket Coaching Biomechanics Workshop on Batting and Fast Bowling at the 13th Asian Federation of Sports Medicine Congress in Malaysia, a workshop that attracted elite coaches, players and administrators from Asia and around the world.

He also performs cricket coaching workshops for The Victorian Cricket School (VCS), which is headed by Graham Yallop, former Australian Test cricketer. In addition, he has taught the cricket coaching level 2 module for Cricket New South Wales. He was also a biomechanics consultant for New Zealand Cricket, screening the country’s elite bowlers for injury susceptibility factors and identifying specific technical characteristics. Furthermore, Dr. Ferdinands’ research was an important factor in the development of the current ICC bowling legality measures.

He was the editor of the Cricket Information Service for the International Society of Biomechanics in Sports, acting as a cricket coaching consultant to cricketers worldwide. And, in 2015, Dr. Ferdinands will have two notable appointments: first, to act as the conference convener of the World Congress of Science and Medicine in Cricket in Sydney, the world’s premier conference in cricket science, a major event for cricket scientists, coaches, players and administrators around the world, scheduled to occur in conjunction with the ICC Cricket World Cup; and second, to run an Advanced Cricket Biomechanics and Coaching workshop for the International Society of Biomechanics in Sports in France, the first such workshop on the European mainland.”
