For the first time in the 127-year history of the prestigious Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA), a foreigner has been inducted as an Honorary Fellow.
With the decision being taken by the SLMA Council to honour the World Health Organisation’s Country Representative, Dr. Firdosi Rustom Mehta who leaves Sri Lanka on October 15 after being in the country for nearly six years, the scroll was handed over by SLMA President Dr. Palitha Abeykoon on Tuesday “in recognition and appreciation of his much valued contribution to the medical profession in Sri Lanka”.
