The 19th Travel Trade Sports Club Badminton Championships 2014, scheduled to take place today, 28th September at St. Thomas College Indoor Stadium, Mt. Lavinia, commencing at 8.30 am.

The SriLankan Airlines retained the Men’s Open and the Men’s Veterans at last year’s tournament. The Women’s title has eluded the SriLankan Airlines for the past three years, which was continuously won by Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo, who will be a notable absentee this time. Serendib Leisure will be sponsoring the Travel Trade Badminton Championship 2014 for the fourth year in succession.

The participating teams are :

Sri Lankan Airlines, Serendib Leisure, Mermaid Hotel and Club, Kalutara, Cinnamon Grand Colombo, Vivantha by Taj Bentota and Gateway Airport Garden Hotel, Seeduwa; (participating in all three tournaments); Diethelm Lanka and Taj Samudra Hotel (only in the Men’s open); Jetwing Travels and Jetwing Blue, Negombo (Men’s Open and Veterans); Connaissance de Ceylon and Walkers Tours /Whittalls Travels (Men’s open and Women’s)

The Sponsorship presentation took place at the Serendib Leisure Head Office, Braybrooke Place on Tuesday, where Suranjith de Fonseka, Director Sales and Marketing, Serendib Leisure handed over the package to Denesh Silva, President, Travel Trade Sports club. Present at the event were Dilshan Gnanapragasam (event Co-ordinator) and Tyrone Perera (Sports Events Co-ordinator/ TTSC)
