Karunaratne and Vijayabahu emerge winners

Mattumagala Karunaratne Buddhist College, Ragama and Vijayabahu Maha Vidyalaya, Okkampitiya emerged champions in the Boy’s and Girl’s divisions at the All Island Inter Schools Softball Cricket Tournament concluded at the Jaffna Central College Grounds recently.

Twenty seven teams of both boys and girls from all over the island took part in this Under 19 tournament which was conducted by the Education Department.

While Mattumagala Karunaratne Buddhist College clinched the boy’s championship, Mahasen National School, Nikaweratiya finished runner-up and the third place was won by Rahumania Vidyalaya, Eravur.

Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda occupied the runners-up seat in the Girl’s segment and St. Paul’s Milagiriya finished as second runner-up.

North District Education Director (Sports) K. Satyapalan, M. Lalith Bandula – Director Colombo Division (Sports), Deputy Director Kalutara Division (Sports) D.A. Dayaratne and Sports Instructor (Panadura) Kanthasiri Meegamuwage distributed awards to the winners and runners-up as Chief Guests. LR
