The Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association recently organised a seminar in Colombo to enhance the knowledge and quality awareness on supervisory regulations and mandatory testing requirement of textile and apparel market of China.

Dr. Jane Jiang, SGS Global Director for Softline (textile and apparel industry) was the guest speaker, assisted by Joey Zou of SGS China. SLAEA Chairman Yohan Lawrence in his opening address reiterated the advantages and benefits and the positive impact a free trade agreement with China would make on Sri Lanka’s economy. Over 80 personnel including high officials and experts in apparel trade participated in the seminar.

“The seminar was very successful and concluded with great enthusiasm among the participants to further expand the textile and clothing industry of Sri Lanka to meet the requirements of newer markets among which China would be one of the biggest,” the association said.
