Sri Lanka Telecom PLC (SLT) said revenue of the group and subsidiaries totalled Rs.31.39 billion for the first six months of the year, up 8 per cent from the same period last year.

All the operational segments of the group contributed to this growth – fixed telephony, mobile and others, SLT said in an announcement on Friday.

Group operating cost stood at Rs. 21.86 billion which included a charge of Rs. 673 million resulting from an out of court settlement of a civil case on the import of the IPTV system in 2007/08.

Group profit before tax grew by 25 per cent YoY to Rs. 4.04 billion. Foreign exchange gain of Rs. 99 million during the period under review compared with a Rs. 382 million foreign exchange loss incurred during the corresponding period of the previous year. The group reported Rs. 2.96 billion as net profit after tax.
