Monday’s Colombo-based Asian Financial Reporting conference to be addressed by IFAC chief

The Chief Executive of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Fayez Choudhury, will address an Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka-hosted conference that will kick off outside Colombo tomorrow. The Conference on Financial Reporting for Economic Development, organised by the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants, IFAC, and the World Bank, is being held between May 19 and 21, bringing together 150 regulators, policy makers, business leaders, academics, professionals and international experts in discussions related to the state of the Asian financial reporting supply chain and how it pertains to private and public sector development.

According to the announcement, Mr. Choudhury was formerly with the “World Bank, where his last two assignments were as vice president, corporate finance and risk management; and controller and vice president, strategic planning and resource management. He has served on a number of high-level representative bodies.

FAC is the “global organisation for the accountancy profession with 179 members and associates in 130 countries which represents over 2.5 million accountants across the world”.

The announcement further revealed that, during his stay in Colombo, Mr. Choudhury would also attend a CFO forum organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.
